
Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC) has been awarded a $153,198 eEmergency grant from the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. The donation through the Helmsley Rural Healthcare Program will be used to purchase equipment that connects local providers with emergency specialists, allowing for 24-hour access to specialty care for their patients. “MRHC has been given an opportunity to better serve our friends and neighbors due to the generous assistance of the Helmsley grant,” says CEO, John O’Brien. “Our emergency department provides lifesaving services to the people of Manning and the surrounding communities. Through the use of telemedicine, our providers have access to emergency specialists at the touch of a button,” O’Brien adds. Since its inception in 2008, the Helmsley Trust has committed more than $2.1 billion for a variety of charitable purposes with a concentration in world health and place-based initiatives. Through the Helmsley Rural Healthcare Program, more than $335 million in grants have been awarded to help connect rural patients to emergency care.
