Why do we say “Manning, Iowa…It’s Refreshing.”?? The many reasons include past generations who invested in Manning’s future. Their investments helped make Manning the vibrant community it is today. Last Thursday evening we held a public informational meeting on the formation of a new Refresh Manning Trust Fund. The attendees had excellent questions. Watch for further information in a forthcoming press release. The Adopt a Main Street Banner campaign is off to a good start. Four banners were adopted the first day after the announcement in the Monitor! Please stop by the Main Street Manning office to view the refreshing adoptable banners or visit http://www.manningia.com/msm-blog.html. The deadline is December 13th. Early adoptions have more choices!
During the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday seasons, we often reflect on our family and all the elements of our lives we are thankful for. For me, that includes the opportunity the Lord provided me – to move back to my hometown. It is truly amazing to see the activities and accomplishments that are performed by volunteers. I thank each of you. Every town has its organizations and its volunteers but I perceive Manning as a “step above”. Please stop and think about it. Think about all the community and church events that are held over these holiday seasons. They are powered by you – the volunteers. If you volunteer, thank you!!! If you don’t volunteer, please thank those who do and think about becoming a volunteer!
Remember - our small businesses are about Main Street, not Wall Street and about supporting the local economy. Our small businesses are owned by our neighbors. When you shop at a small business, you’re supporting your local economy and your local job base.
Why do we say “Manning, Iowa…It’s Refreshing.”?? It is due to our businesses, our volunteers and our entire surrounding area. The sense of community goes beyond the city limits. It includes our local farmers and all those who live in our rural areas.
