Elementary students from IKM-Manning have received recognition for their beef marketing strategies. The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation announced the winners in the experiential learning High Steaks! Beef Marketing contest for elementary, middle and high school students. Two different projects from children in Kristin Dreyer’s class tied for third place in their division. Collin Bainbridge, Austin Rhodes and Maybelin Valladares created a poster explaining the nutrition of beef, while Richie Andrade, Camden Alexander and Anna Stangl crafted a poster that explained the cow life cycle. A panel of industry experts, beef producers and educators were responsible for judging entries, which were eligible to receive prizes including up to $200 and a personalized virtual tour of a beef farm. First place winners will treat their school to a BBQ lunch catered by the Iowa Beef Industry Council.
