A year ago a group of community volunteers launched the “C-3: Community + Christ + Celebration” initiative. We began with the dream of a summer Christian concert for the children and youth of the community. The first event brought more than three hundred community (and beyond) citizens of all ages to the Manning Heritage Park. Since that time C-3 has hosted a community meal packaging event in January and an inspirational speaker for teens in April. Many individuals and community partners have been generous with donations of time, talents, and treasure which have helped the vision to become reality and to grow in community impact.
A second summer concert is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, June 2 at the Manning Heritage Park. The event is again being offered free to charge to the Manning and surrounding communities. The C-3 committee appreciates the generous support businesses give to a variety of charitable endeavors: We invite you to participate in this year’s special event:
+ Consider a financial donation. Checks can be made out to “Summer Concert” and sent to P.O. Box 251, sent through Zion Lutheran Church (note: Summer Concert”) or shared directly with Pastor Bob Riggert, Pastor Angie Loomis, Rhonda Grimm or Jean Stadtlander. This s a free community event. The financial donations will provide the Christian music program, free t-shirts for youth and children (with the event logo and Manning’s “It’s refreshing” theme), and free food. Business donations will be publicly noted.
+ Publicize the event with a brochure display or window poster and verbal invitations to employees and customers.
+ Participate in the event. Join us Sunday afternoon, June 2, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Heritage Park (Inclement weather will move the event to Zion Lutheran Church.). Enjoy the casual atmosphere and the connections with community friends. We again anticipate many friends from neighboring communities enjoying Manning’s heritage and hospitality.
On behalf of the churches of Manning and the C-3 Committee we thank you for your support as we celebrate Christ in our community.
