The Chamber will be rewarding Manning shoppers with Christmas Cash. Beginning Nov. 25, $250 in Chamber Bucks will be given away each weekend awarding $50 to five individuals. The drawings will be held each weekend up to Christmas. Shoppers can pick up the Christmas Cash checks at either Manning bank or at some participating businesses starting Nov. 13.
To be eligible to win individuals need only to get the check stamped by six different Chamber businesses where they are shopping. They can then write their name and phone number on the check. Completed checks can be left at Templeton Savings Bank, First National Bank, The Market Place, Manning Pharmacy, Kristina’s Flowers, Rix BP and West Street Market where additional blank checks are available. Individuals can enter often.
On behalf of the Manning Food Pantry and C3, I would like to send a word of thanks to everyone who helped with the Open House and Pack the Pantry event. A huge shout out to the Manning Rotary Club, especially Kara Stadtlander and Katie Wall for organizing such an amazing event and all of their members and volunteers for helping. It was truly a fun and energized atmosphere watching the teams race around West Street Market! Over $4,000 of food was brought to the pantry!! Our shelves and freezer were looking pretty bare, so the timing of this event could not be better for the pantry and the clients who need a little help to make it through each month.
The Open House turned out great as well. Thank you to Pastor and Diane Riggert, Carlys Stribe and Laurie Stein for taking care of the food and getting everything set up. They, along with numerous other volunteers, also helped to unpack all the vehicles and food. Many of the items were shelved, but there is still a lot to put away. As each church takes their week, we can just continue to work at getting everything in its place.
We were very blessed to have a Thrivent member sponsor the Open House, which helped with providing food, drinks, etc. Also, thanks to Dan for providing the amazing cookies! Thanks to Kyli for coming to both events, helping to explain the connection to New Opportunities, the services provided, and lending a hand shopping, packing and unloading food.
A special thanks to all of the businesses, churches, individuals and organizations who sponsored teams. There were 16 teams with Ohde Funeral Home winning first place. I’m thinking they spent $249.95, which is really amazing!
I worry about writing thank yous for fear of leaving someone out, so please know that no matter what role you played in these two events, C3 and the clients who depend on the food pantry, truly appreciate everyone’s call to serve. We are truly blessed to live in such a caring and giving community.
