![]() C3 CROP Hunger Walk - helping end hunger one step at a time: Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 This is the first time in more than 25 years that a CROP Hunger Walk has been held in our area. This year we join 2,000 communities including Carroll, Denison, Harlan, Audubon and Atlantic in having a walk in our community. In order to participate, walkers need to sign up and pick up fundraising packets from any of the Manning churches. It is not too late to join in. The Manning C3 CROP Hunger Walk begins at the Manning City Park shelter house at 1:30 pm on Sunday, Sept. 29. C3 is also seeking donations of canned goods for the food pantry at New Opportunities and Community of Concern in Carroll. There are many ways for you to participate in the CROP Walk. To mention a few: you can cheer on the walkers the day of the walk, support a walker with your donation, donate canned goods, support spiritually during the walk remembering those for whom we walk, and/or attend on Sunday and join in any way. 25% of proceeds from walk go towards local food pantries. You are also invited to the Taco Bar/Ice Cream bar Kickoff for the Crop Walk at the United Methodist Church. Free Will offering Serving from 11:30 – 1:00. Proceeds go towards Crop Walk, local food pantries, and Young Christians Weekend for YG in Branson. Hip Hip Hooray, It’s Friday!!!! Which means… Friday Farmers Market AND Friday Night Football! Hope you’re wearing your Green and Black today for the Wolves!
The Friday the 13th Farmers Market on Main Street will feature the Lambda Eta Bake Sale. The members are busy making homemade goodies, snacks and treats, which I’m sure will include some NUTS! Please give them your support. Plus Ken Sporrer will be back with his garden produce. FYI: the watermelons and cantaloupe are great! The sale starts at 4 pm sharp! Be there early for the best selection of baked goods and produce. On Sunday, Sept. 15th, the American Legion is serving brunch from 8:30 am to 12 pm at the Manning Legion Hall. Tickets are available at the door. They would appreciate your support. And then, for your weekend entertainment, head to the Hausbarn at 4 pm on Sunday to watch the German entertainers. There will be music, dancing, food and children’s activities! Don’t miss the fun close to home! Have a great weekend in Manning! The Manning Plaza is hosting an Alzheimer’s Awareness Breakfast on Tuesday, September 17th from 8:30 – 9:30 in the Plaza Dining Room. There will be a free will offering with all proceeds being donated to the local Alzheimer’s Association. Chamber members, employees and friends are invited to stop by for breakfast if they can. It is come & go.
